Hey everyone! It feels like a while since I have written a group email, and to be fair it has been, so here is to starting 2020 off strong with one.
I hope you all had a great Christmas this last week as well! We had a good time here. We went to a members house that is fairly new here in the area, and we ate a ton of food and then played some card games after, so a chill time, And then as a district we all hit up the church for some basketball and chair soccer, good times.
One thing that was just insane this last week was there was that one night it just poured rain super hard all night and into the next day. The problem came that it then all started just immediately freezing. So we got up that morning and we were going to breakfast with one of the members from the Spanish ward and there was just about an inch of ice over everything. So I took that drive just about as careful as can be, and still there was just zero traction whatsoever. On that drive to breakfast just about half the people we saw outside slipped and or fell, it was just so bad. There were vans sliding sideways down this hill, people just rolling through every light and stop sign, man was it a good time. We all managed safely but it was definitely quite the adventure! I'm sure you can look up videos on you-tube of some of the crazy.
So now 3 people to kind of just update you on that is pretty cool.
So the first, his name is Trent, but we call him Big T. Not because he is even that big or anything, we just like to get him all pumped up and its a good time. He is the boyfriend of someone in the Spanish ward that I knew pretty well, and so its cool to see all the little connections from a year ago that help out and have played a part in my area. Or the people I found from a year ago are still being taught and progressing with the Spanish elders. So we are excited to work with our man Big T and help him recognize how the gospel can help him in his life and to help him see that growth in himself.
The next story is super cool! So with Facebook as a tool we can use in our mission, I have been doing my best to really take advantage of it. Whether that means posting things to inspire and set an example, or reaching out to people that live nearby and starting normal and natural conversations that pretty much always lead to the gospel. So I reached out to this one guy named Aaron and we started hitting it off and just chatting. It got to how I was a missionary and all that stuff and how he feels about God and stuff. Towards the end he brought up how he feels like it wasn't a coincidence that I reached out to him. So fast forward to this last Saturday and we met up with him at a restaurant, and he seems super chill! And we all order and he pays for our food! With barely even knowing us! He has heard about our church a little, saw the musical haha, and also in school did a religion research project about our church. He is super ready to jump right into church going and join a community! He had a question about whether or not we drink and when we explained it, he was all on board and the loved the idea! And he is going to change his schedule to get Sundays permanently off! SO it was a super cool thing to see the outcome that came from Facebook work and how he turns out to be one of the most solid people I've found on my mission and wants to work for baptism! So super cool miracles!
Finally the last guy was this guy that we have named Dave. This morning me and one of the Spanish elders went to workout in our gym and this guy that is just off the walls drunk comes in and was stumbling, doing weird things, probably thought he was in a spaceship or something. But needless to say, Dave really started off 2020 with a good laugh. #WeAlreadyMissHim
So that is the big updates for here in Minnesota! I hope you all are starting off 2020 with a bang as well! And that you go forward with an eye of faith and a steadfastness in Christ! If you have that figured out, then I have no doubt that this year can change your lives and be amazing!
I love you all! Have a great new years day!
