| The Vega Family |
So last Wednesday, we started getting clues that Ryan was being transferred out of Minneapolis. (Thanks social media). There are some wonderful members that posted pictures and information on Facebook. We learned that he would be going to Lakeville which is south of Minneapolis and definitely more in the "country". We also learned that he made some serious attachments to various members in the area. Lovely Hermana Vega communicated with me let me know how hard it was to say goodbye to our son. It was tender and sweet. And I just felt so happy knowing that Elder Pickering connected with such wonderful people and felt as if they became family. This is just another facet of being a missionary and can be very enriching. I know it was difficult for Ryan to say goodbye but I also know that communication is so much easier now than even when I served a mission. It is nice to know that he can be lifelong friends with these people.
Also, another prayer was answered. The temperatures have seriously taken a dip the past couple of weeks. Up until the transfer, he was still on a bike in below freezing temps. I knew it had to be miserable for him and would make the work difficult. So now he is in a car in his new area. And it was in the nick of time since within a week Minnesota experienced record lows. What a crazy adventure. I am just so happy that he is keeping warm.
I am excited to see what blessings come with the new changes.

Hey everyone!
I am back here once again, still going strong. This week I was moved for the first time, I guess 6 months in a single area is when they decide you've been there long enough already. So I am now here in Lakeville Minnesota which is more south than where I was at in Minneapolis. But don't be fooled, just because I am more south does not been that it is any warmer. We were able to throw boiling water out of the window the other day and it did indeed freeze, we will see if it lets me attach that video so you can all be grateful you're not in that cold of weather. It is supposed to get down cold enough here soon that president might ground our cars and not let us leave, we will see, you'll hear all about it next week if that is the case.
Well there isn't a whole lot to say since I am just getting into this new area. I am now with Elder Nickels who is from Washington, the state, and I am finishing his training, and we are working on figuring out the area and all that fun stuff together here. We work in a branch now, which is way different from the ward that I came from. The ward that I came from is one of the largest wards in the state, and now I am in a ward with about 40 people and like 10 families total maybe, so it will be a huge huge adjustment. But on the bright side it will be a lot easier to learn everyone's names, so that will be nice. And now that I am in a much bigger area, we do get a car, so that is a blessing in this crazy cold that is coming and has already hit us. Also when I got to this apartment in this area, it was a train wreck, the Elders before clearly did not take care of it, and left approximately 0 food in here anywhere. So basically we have been on one of those house makeover shows to make this place a bit more livable. And after about 3 trashcans full, after just vacuuming and other stuff, we are in a much more comfortable situation here now haha.
Well I'll talk to you all next week, hopefully there is more to stay as we start finding people and getting the area down, hope you all have a great week and stay warm!!
Elder Pickering
