Ryan received his call in kind of an unconventional way. His Dad's good friend Jason works for the missionary department and was able to grab the big white envelope before it hit the mail. He then did a pass off at the Front Runner train station to Ryan's sister Alyssa, so that we had a few less days of waiting with anticipation and nervousness.
Word went out to family and friends and we had quite the gathering of people that came to support Ryan as he opened his mission call.
Ryan was called to serve in the Minneapolis, Minnesota Mission, speaking Spanish. It came as a surprise to most of us, it just wasn't on our radar. We were super excited about Ryan working with the Hispanic people, especially since his mom and dad served stateside Spanish speaking as well. And yet to think that there were a significant number of Latinos in Minnesota was shocking. But the Lord knows these things so who are we to question.
Ryan had to speak for seminary graduation and during his talk he shared how he received a personal witness through and experience that this call came from God and it is where he is suppose to serve.
We are so proud of Ryan and his willingness and worthiness to be a missionary. We know he will do great work and bless many people along the way.
Watch out Minnesota, here he comes!!
